2-Hand Reel / Monday June 12th & 19th 5:00 - 6:00 / Beginner +
The Two Hand Reel is a dance choreographed for a couple. Traditionally danced at ceilis, it is now danced as a competition or performance piece. What makes it unique is that the two dancers work as a team to move in unison and must also incorporate using their hands. In the competition circle, this dance is commonly performed by good friends, or siblings, with the occasional parent - child or family category being offered. This dance is 3 steps long.
4-Hand Reel / Monday June 12th & 19th 6:00 - 7:00 / Advanced Beginner +
The 4-Hand Reel is often one of the first competition ceili dances a dancer will learn. It is more complex than the 2-Hand in that all four dancers must work to stay in perfect unison. It is also a bit longer, equaling to about 5 steps, depending on which figure us used. 4-Hands can compete at local competitions and Regional Championships.
8-Hand Reel / Monday June 12th & 19th 7:00 - 8:00 / Novice +
The 8-Hand Reel that we will be learning is called The High Cauled Cap. This dance is often the first 8-Hand that dancers learn. It is similarly structured as the 4-Hand with the lead round, body, and figure. 8-Hands can compete at local competitions, Regional Championships, and Nationals & Worlds if qualified at Regionals.
Mommy & Me Ceili / Tuesday June 13th 5:30 - 6:30 / ages 4-6
Dads, grandparents, etc are also welcome to take their dancer to this little ceili! Dancers and family members will learn how to skip with their partner and dance as a group. This class will be designed for our youngest dancers.
Myron Bretholz & Laura Byrne Irish Music / Wednesday June 14th 6:00 - 7:00 / Open

Laura Byrne plays the flute and is highly involved in the local Irish music community. She runs the Baltimore Trad Fest and also hosts weekly music sessions at Ryan's Daughter. Myron and Laura will be teaching dancers about the Irish music that they dance to in order to help understand timing and rhythm.
Irish Fiddle with Miss Casey / Wednesday June 14th 7:00 - 8:00 / Violin Students
This workshop is open to students who already know how to play the violin. They will be guided in learning a jig and a hornpipe if we have time (maybe this can become a regular class?!) We will also take turns trying to dance to each other's playing. Please bring a music stand if you have one.

Trad Set: St. Patrick's Day / Wednesday June 21st 6:00 - 7:00/ Advanced Beginner +
St. Patrick's Day, a treble jig, is one of seven traditional set dances and is commonly one of the first that a dancer will learn. This particular dance is one of the oldest that has been passed down through generations, so it's style is a bit different from modern hardshoe dances we see today. It can be danced in local competitions.
Trad Set: The King of the Fairies / Wednesday June 21st 7:00 - 8:00 / Novice +
The King of the Fairies, a hornpipe, is one of the most difficult trad sets, if not the most difficult (followed closely by Garden of Daisies). The tune it is danced too, also named King of the Fairies, is often easily recognized by it's minor key. This dance can also be used in competition.
Bring a Friend Ceili / Thursday June 22nd 6:00 - 7:30 / Open
We will spend the first 30 minutes teaching our friends cuts, skips, 7's, and back 2, 3's. Then we will start with The Walls of Limerick before moving on to The Waves of Tory. If there is time left, our dancers will also demonstrate their skills by performing a step down the line.
